A Break in the Storm

Art Story: Heavy dark clouds almost close over the landscape, except for one small opening of pale blue at their centre. That modest patch of sky changes the entire emotional meaning of the painting: darkness is dominant, but it is not complete. The composition is strong because the idea of hope is communicated entirely through paint and space, without a figure, symbol or written message.
